Hungarian stew, or even "gulyás" in Hungarian, dates back to the 9th century when Hungarian guards, understood as "gulyás," readied the recipe in big cauldrons over fire. In the beginning, it was a simple meat product soup, but as time go on, it advanced into the sturdy, paprika-spiced hash we understand today.
